TETY (Temple Emanuel Temple Youth) is Temple Emanuel’s chapter of NFTY (National Federation of Temple Youth) Southwest Region.
It is split into three subgroups: TETY 5/6, TETY 7/8, and TETY Senior. TETY 5/6 and 7/8 offer fifth through eighth graders opportunities to participate in community service (Tikkun Olam), religious and social programs alongside their Jewish peers. It is geared toward establishing a love for the community and for Judaism early on, in addition to laying a groundwork in leadership fundamentals which will be useful to them as they grow.
TETY Senior is aimed at high school teens. Members will participate in programs of interest to older students, but with the same key elements of community service, religion, and fun. In addition, teens will learn the valuable leadership skills required to successfully plan and execute these events from start to finish. TETY teens enjoy the added benefit of access to regional and national NFTY programs (www.nfty.org). These programs offer an outlet for high school youth to expand and practice their Judaism and leadership skills on a grander stage. NFTY invites teens to travel to conventions where they can meet, connect with, and learn from other Jewish teenagers from different cities and states. In NFTY, your teen will have a blast developing friendships and creating memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. Teens also colunteer to be madrichim in our religious school and form connections to one another in a shared endeavor.l
“NFTY is a movement that builds strong, welcoming, inspired communities through teen-powered engagement. Together, we pursue tikkun olam, personal growth, youth empowerment, and deep connections, all rooted in Reform Judaism.” -NFTY mission statement
