June 12 @ 5:45 pm
On a typical weekly basis, Temple Emanuel’s building is never as full, or as lively, as it is on Erev Shabbat.
Families and friends come together for t’filah and togetherness, and we observe Shabbat together as a community.
Before services, we usually gather in the lobby and catch up with friends, greeting one another with hugs, or a handshake, and a smile. As we nosh on the plentiful snacks like fruits and cheese laid out on the tables, the room around us is buzzing with conversation and laughter. There are warm, welcoming smiles in every direction.
Indeed, there is a significant social connection to be had during Shabbat, and if you are missing that right now, we want to give you an opportunity to still be able to have this experience, even if it’s a little different than what we are used to.
Much like the Noshes we hold before Shabbat service in our Temple lobby, we want to hold a virtual Nosh, online.
Enter the meeting as if you were walking through the Temple doors – a virtual version of our Temple lobby.
Although we may include some conversation starters or thought provoking questions, there is no particular topic that needs to be discussed, or certain structure to this gathering. It is merely meant to be a casual, social space for members to be able to see and talk to one another, just as you would on any typical Friday night at Temple Emanuel!
Stop in for a pop-in, just to say hello, or maybe just like any other Friday night, nosh and schmooze for a little bit before going to watch Erev Shabbat service online. Feel free to stay for a while and catch up with friends you have been missing, and engage in deeper conversations.
Of course, bringing snacks is always encouraged, it is a Nosh after all!
Meeting information and a link to join will be available in tomorrow’s Shabbat Shalom email. We hope you will join us tomorrow evening, and we look forward to seeing familiar faces! If you have any questions, or are interested in being a host of a virtual Nosh, contact [email protected]
