Yizkor – Our Service of Remembrance
A call for photographs of your beloved family members
On Yom Kippur Afternoon, we pause from our atonement to remember our beloved dead. Even though they are gone, they continue to shape the people we have become. We continue to miss them, and to wonder about them.
This year, our Yizkor service will include a special feature. We’ll project the faces of our deceased family members and dear ones onto screens during the service. It’s a way to bring their presence into our midst. If you would like to have someone included in the slide show, please send their picture electronically to [email protected] by Monday, September 11th.
Please, we ask that the pictures feature only the faces of the deceased and not living family members. We are unable to edit individual pictures or to scan pictures for you.
There is no limit to the number of pictures you send, but we cannot guarantee that all your family’s portraits will appear sequentially. Only one picture per person, please.
This is an experiment for us. We hope that it will help all of us to feel closer to those who have passed. We hope that it will help us remember.
Yizkor will be observed at 4:15pm on Saturday, September 30.
As a friendly reminder, this year, services will be held at DaySpring Church, 1365 East Elliot Road, Tempe, AZ 85284.
All are welcome; tickets not required for our Yizkor or Neilah Services.
