Experience has shown that the friendships you and your child build during the early years are the foundation for lifetime bonds. There's no better place than our stimulating and loving preschool to develop these friendships and enhance your child's love of learning. Let our experienced and caring teachers be your partners, nurturing your child's intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual growth.

Learning Through Jewish Eyes

At the Yad B'Yad Temple Emanuel Preschool, your child's day will be filled with Jewish and secular learning opportunities that feel more like fun. Important math, science and pre-reading skills are taught mainly through interactive and hands-on experiences. The children explore art, music, books, puzzles, manipulatives, dramatic play and outside activities, all in a warm and nurturing Jewish setting.

Jewish values and traditions, and the liberal Jewish perspective are incorporated throughout the day, as we "see the world through Jewish eyes." For example, we may learn to count with dreidels, study trees and nature during Tu B' Shevat, or visit a park or zoo to experience God's creations. Hebrew blessings, vocabulary and songs are included as part of our daily activities, and Jewish holidays are joyful classroom events throughout the year. As a result, children learn to love being Jewish and to feel comfortable in the Temple and with Jewish rituals.

Our creative program implements developmentally appropriate practice, as outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Through our unique blend of developmental learning and Jewish tradition, children are encouraged to:

  • Build cognitive, social, emotional and physical readiness skills
  • Form a strong, positive Jewish identity
  • Develop positive self esteem
  • Learn to trust and care for others
  • Explore and question the world around them
  • Exercise creativity and imagination
  • Practice socially appropriate interactions
  • Gain autonomy and responsibility
  • Develop at their own pace
